Celtic should take a look at Rennes midfielder Benjamin André.

The Bhoys are reportedly in for his team mate James Léa Siliki according to RMC’s feed on Wednesday morning.

Both players are different and at different stages of their careers which may play apart.

However, André is the man the Hoops should be going for.

The Rennes captain is rated at around 9 million euros by the club and Lyon are reportedly interested.

Similarly, Léa Siliki had interest from Porto, but Rennes rejected the 8 million euro move.

This said, André would bring a whole host of abilities to Celtic and is already captain material. He is the type of fighting player fans love in Scott Brown but adds extra qualities.

André is fantastic in the air and provides a greater range of passing than the veteran Celtic man. He is arguably the French Joe Ledley with the drive and motivation of Brown.

Like the Welshman, André started out on the wide left before cementing his place in the middle of the pitch.

With Brown counting down the time of his Hoops exit, André can step into his role immediately.

That’s not to say Léa Siliki won’t bring qualities.

How James Léa Siliki can help the Hoops

The 23-year-old is another Rennes man that would be able to slot into Celtic.

However, he is by no means a starter for the French cup winners which adds a question over how the interest came about.

However, he is more like Stuart Armstrong than Brown.

He is more attacking than André, but has played at left-back on rare occasions for Rennes.

Fans will see his goal against Arsenal in the Europa League to show he can perform on the grand stage.

The Hoops faithful can make their own minds up on Saturday when both are expected to travel.
