If Celtic are looking to get even more out of their record-breaking deal for David Turnbull then they should include Ewan Henderson in the move.
The Lanarkshire side are understood to be interested in taking either Lewis Morgan or Mikey Johnstone on loan. They have a gap to fill on the wing following Jake Hastie’s move to Rangers but also require a central-midfielder with an eye for goal. Step up Henderson.
Leap of faith
It makes sense for the 19-year-old to go and get some gametime for Stephen Robinson’s side. The Northern Irishman clearly creates a good environment for youngsters, going by the recent performances of Turnbull, Hastie and Allan Campbell.
Henderson has immense talent but just needs to be trusted to play consistently in a first-team. He is unlikely to feature much at Celtic this coming season following the capture of Turnbull and the return of the likes of Ryan Christie and Nir Bitton.
The Scotland under-19 international could bide his time this season, getting the odd opportunity here and there. But the truth is that he’d be better served out making a name for himself in a competitive environment.
If ‘Well want Henderson and Johnston then we should be all for that. The duo would add to the Steelmen’s ranks and harm every other team in the league bar Celtic. They would be ineligible to play against ourselves but could damage the likes of Rangers and Aberdeen.
