Celtic should look at Stuart Armstrong return

Celtic should aim to bring back former midfielder Stuart Armstrong to the club.

The Scotland international is currently out of sorts with Southampton. Lack of game time since joining last season isn’t suiting any parties involved.

The Bhoys are dying for a player of his similarity and would love to have him back. Neil Lennon should ask the question, even if it’s a temporary loan deal.

He was getting minutes here and there before becoming a starter in December 2018.

However, after January the minutes dwindled to the odd appearance here and there before being hooked. It wasn’t the ideal start for the attacking midfielder but he did make 29 appearances, scoring three with two assists.

What is for sure is a move back up north will get Armstrong back to his best again.

The fans adored him and his chant is still loved by the supporters who were sad to see him leave.

Some players are suited to a certain environment and Armstrong with Celtic is that.

With some uncertainty involving Olivier Ntcham, Armstrong would be the ample replacement for him.

Any move for Stuart Armstrong is welcome

The Frenchman was brought in to replace Armstrong but he hasn’t hit the Scotsman’s heights.

Despite a big mouth running to the press, Ntcham has hardly impressed the Celtic support.

Armstrong, however, was a quiet man who did his talking consistently on the pitch.

Some may say it was the right time for him to go, but he isn’t the same player that he was in Glasgow.

A potential transfer may be dependent on others moving on, but Neil Lennon should keep him in mind.

The move is a no brainer as we know what the club will be getting rather than a gamble from abroad.
