Brendan Rodgers should have signed Birger Meling last year.
The 24-year-old Rosenborg left-back was the star for the Norwegians in each of the games the two have played.
However, Rodgers opted with Calvin Miller and Emilio Izaguirre as deputies.
Saturday’s left-back fiasco shows the need to sign him in January.
Meling has all the qualities to succeed at Celtic
The Hoops faithful were quick to notice their opponent’s qualities in the European ties.

MORE CELTIC STORIES
During the summer, fans were shouting on social media for Rodgers to sign him up.
He even scored the opening goal in the July Champions League qualifier at Celtic Park.
When the Celts were needing a Rosenborg result at Leipzig, Meling even got a mention.

The Norwegian international has 10 caps and three trophies with his club.
The Bhoys can look at the likes of Mikael Lustig who joined from the Scandanavian side and has settled in to become a seasoned veteran in Glasgow.
Although he is small in stature, the player is clearly a battler and would go through brick walls for his side.
He is also familiar with British football having spent a year at Middlesbrough as a youth.
Twitter reacts
Ever since the summer, fans have taken to social media platform Twitter to support Meling to Celtic.

Celtic need to strengthen full-backs
The Hoops arguably need a right-back more than a left-sider, but it wouldn’t go a miss.
The recent Rangers game showed Celtic do have problems on the left.

Emilio Izaguirre put a less than stellar pefromance in against Aberdeen and was hooked.
Callum McGregor had to fill in at Ibrox controversially over stand-in Jonny Hayes.

Someone such as Meling would be the type of warrior Celtic lacked against Rangers.
It remains to be seen if Rodgers will finally follow some fan advice.
