Celtic star Greg Taylor undergoes surgery
Celtic defender Greg Taylor has posted on Instagram that he has successfully come through shoulder surgery and is now rehabilitating.
Taylor injured his shoulder in the match away to AZ Alkmaar and aggravated the problem in last week’s home win against Ross County.
Manager Ange Postecoglou provided two updates for supporters in the days after, one that he was seeing a specialist and another confirming he needed surgery.
Taylor himself posted a picture of himself in an arm sling on Instagram Stories tonight, stating: “Successful surgery. Road to recovery starts now.”
Postecoglou has already declared the timeframe of Taylor’s return as “medium-term” and that he’ll be “out for a while”, so don’t expect to see him over the next few weeks. However, it doesn’t appear he’ll be out for as long as Christopher Jullien, as an example.
The manager does have a number of options to choose from in the meantime including Boli Bolingoli, Adam Montgomery and Liam Scales.

However, Bolingoli is not registered for the Europa League squad, meaning that Montgomery is the most likely choice to play big upcoming matches.
Scales “isn’t quite ready” per an update from the manager on Sunday afternoon.
Montgomery has deputised well in recent weeks and now has a massive opportunity to make the position his own heading deeper into the season. You get the impression that the academy talent has been protected up to this point, but it’s time to let him spread his wings and fly a bit.
Hopefully, he’s up for the challenge.
