Celtic star Josip Juranovic continues momentum with Croatia call-up

Josip Juranovic has received yet another big boost today after being recalled back into the Croatia squad for November’s World Cup qualifiers.

Juranovic had to pull out of October’s squad after picking up an injury against Dundee United in late September. It was a major blow for the player internationally after having previously made an impression both at Euro 2020 and September’s internationals.

However, today he’s been given yet another call-up as manager Zlatko Dalic has immediately moved to bring him back into the fold:

Croatia will travel to Malta on November 11th before hosting Russia ina. mouth-watering clash 3 days later. Juranovic will be hoping to be involved in both after missing last month’s games against Cyprus and Russia respectively.

Juranovic has been a regular for the Croats stretching back to November 2020 when he made his breakthrough. It appears that his move to Parkhead has only increases his game-time further, with 3 consecutive 90-minute outings before his injury.

As always, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will just be praying the right-back is back safe and sound for another hectic schedule after the November break.

Celtic hero Josip Juranovic building serious momentum

This will be a big boost today. It’s not as if Dalic doesn’t have options at right-back. Bayern Munich’s Josip Stanisic, for example, is just one alternative.

It would’ve been even more of a concern for Josip considering he’s been playing regularly at left-back for Celtic. That’s not a position Dalic has ever featured him in. So you could understand why there may have been worries over a potential recall.

Thankfully, Dalic has invested his faith in Josip once again. It remains to be seen if he comes straight back into the Croatia side, but just being back in the squad is a boost. And very quickly, Juranovic has a chance to make up for lost time with both club and country.

Celtic fans will be expecting a host of their players to head out on international duty next month. It’s always a nervous time for the manager and supporters. Especially when you consider the injury crisis we suffered after September’s off-period.

Thankfully, it’ll be the final one before March. That gives Celtic over 4 months to get things right without any international breaks barging their way in to unsettle our consistency.

But this time around, you feel Juranovic needed this call-up given his injury woes. Hopefully, he’s an immediate starter for his homeland just as he was on his Parkhead return on Saturday.
