A potential blockbuster move for Celtic star Kieran Tierney to Barcelona has been rubbished by a report in Spain.
Catalan media outlet Mundo Deportivo today listed several potential players who could take the place of Barcelona’s Jordi Alba.
Incredibly, however, they revealed that Celtic’s estimation for the player is far too high. The Hoops apparently want £30million for their prized asset. Barcelona, however, reportedly don’t want to pay as much as that.

In addition to that, Mundo Deportivo confirmed that they’ve had no confirmation from Barcelona that Tierney is even an option. Therefore, everything surrounding any move is just speculation at the moment.
This isn’t the only interest Tierney has had registered in him since the season ended. English Premier League clubs such as Manchester United (Daily Mirror) and Leicester City (TalkSPORT) have also been linked.
It shows how highly-rated Tierney is considering he’s been in-and-out of the team this season due to injury. He’s currently recuperating after his double-hernia surgery last month.
Celtic also tied Tierney down to a six-year contract a couple of years ago (Celtic). He’ll be at Parkhead until 2023 unless Celtic say otherwise.
A groundbreaking demand from the Champions
There’s no confirmation that the asking price of £30m is true. Celtic haven’t stated anything on this as it stands, and Neil Lennon certainly hasn’t put a valuation on him. But if it is, it’s groundbreaking stuff from us.

Celtic secured their highest ever sale last summer when Moussa Dembele departed for Lyon. That raked in nearly £20m (BBC) for the club, but that has proved to be a coup for the Ligue 1 side.
Top European talents have gone to England and Spain in the past for ridiculous prices. Considering how stable Celtic are financially, it would be about time we started demanding serious cash for our top players.

Celtic will likely be bracing themselves for potential bids for Tierney in any case. He’s such a world-renowned talent at this point. But if word is getting around of serious figures like £30m, it can only be a good thing for the club.
Tierney is one of a kind. The kind of player who likely wouldn’t even want to leave without Celtic getting a huge sum. The summer is sure to be interesting, but at least for now it’s safe to rule out any mega-move to Barca for our left-back.
