Celtic star Kyogo spotted in training photos as Japan star prepares return
Kyogo Furuhashi has been spotted training separately from the rest of the team in photos released by Celtic earlier today.
While clearly away from the main training cohort, it’s a promising sight for Celtic supporters who have missed the Japan star’s goal-scoring antics in recent weeks.
Celtic released photos of the team at work ahead of the visit of Raith Rovers tomorrow:
The eagle-eyed amongst the Celtic support would’ve spotted Kyogo in the background of the first picture. If you look beyond David Turnbull’s shoulder, Kyogo seems to be running fitness drills by himself.
It’s certainly a sight for sore eyes. Despite Celtic scoring 7 goals since Kyogo’s injury was announced [WhoScored?], there’s still plenty of the support missing the Japanese striker’s influence.
Against Livingston in particular, the side looked far more one-dimensional. With a barrage of crosses coming from either flank, Celtic lacked cutting edge, from one of Kyogo’s trademark defence-splitting runs.
Let’s not get too excited yet, but Kyogo at least training is good news for Celtic supporters
It’s still likely to be a few weeks before we see Kyogo line up for Celtic again. However, there’s going to be excitement from this and I’m not going to be the one to quell it!
The Japan international has been in sensational form since arriving in Glasgow.
As if you needed reminding, he’s scored 7 goals and made 1 assist in just 9 games [Transfermarkt]. Nine games.
Understandably, it’s the kind of return that’s won him countless fans in Green and White, and his injury on international duty seemed like particularly cruel timing.
Celtic could surely use him with some big games coming up. While nobody at the club has given any kind of revised timescale yet, he was expected to miss 7 games.
If he can come back for Ferencvaros in the Europa League, or Motherwell away, then no doubt fans would be absolutely delighted.
