A Twitter account claiming to be Celtic star Hatem Abd Elhamed is apparently not the real deal, with the player himself revealing on the club’s official Instagram account that he is not on the other social media site.
The Twitter profile, handled as @ElhamedHatemAbd, is followed by Scottish football journalists and players such as Christopher Jullien and Jeremie Frimpong, as well as over 13,000 supporters.
Started in August 2019, shortly after Elhamed signed for Neil Lennon’s Bhoys, the account has regularly updated in the name of the Israeli international, reacting to matches and club posts.
The latest original tweet came as recently as March 13th.
However, taking part in an official club question and answer session today, Elhamed was asked if he was on Twitter, replying that he is only on Instagram.
Celtic fans should be aware of which player accounts are and aren’t the real deal on social media, especially in an age when posts and comments can easily make headline news in mainstream outlets.
Elhamed regularly updates a verified profile on Instagram, so if you’re looking for updates from the defender then that’s undoubtedly the place to look.
The official, verified Celtic club Twitter account also has a list of all the real accounts of people associated with the club.
