Celtic winger Jota was missing from training at Lennoxtown this afternoon, ahead of tomorrow evening’s huge UEFA Champions League clash.

Ange Postecoglou’s squad were put through their paces at Lennoxtown this afternoon as German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig travel into Glasgow ahead of Tuesday’s game.

As Posecoglou weighs up his squad options, the Celtic boss welcomed back defender Moritz Jenz from illness after he missed Saturday’s trip to Perth.

However, one of the Hoops’ key men this season – Jota – was missing at Lennoxtown as the winger sat out the preparations for tomorrow evening.

The 23-year-old started the Bhoys’ dramatic victory at the weekend and was replaced at half-time by Daizen Maeda.

In the aftermath of that game, Postecoglou confirmed that the Portuguese attacker was taken off due to fatigue after facing a heavy workload in recent weeks.

Although it didn’t seem as though the Celtic boss was too concerned over the possibility of Jota missing the crucial RB Leipzig outing, supporters are now wondering if the winger will be fit after missing training.

It would come as a further injury blow to the 57-year-old, who is already missing the likes of Callum McGregor and Carl Starfelt.

Jota sitting out training could be a precaution taken by Celtic staff as we await Ange Postecoglou fitness update.

Ahead of tomorrow evening’s game, the Celtic boss will be speaking to the media, and the question on everyone’s lips is likely to be surrounding the availability of the winger.

Although some may be fearing that the wideman will be ruled out, it could also just be a precaution taken by the club’s medical staff to make sure the attacker is fully fit and raring to go.

As Postecoglou mentioned at the weekend, Jota has played plenty of minutes already this season, and that was the reason behind his early substitution on Saturday.

We should hear more from the Celtic boss around 3 PM, and supporters will be hoping for good news surrounding the winger’s availability.

In any case, Postecoglou still has further quality options in wide areas he may look to utilise in his place, with the likes of Sead Haksabanovic vying for an opportunity after a strong showing in Perth.
