Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy has shared his early experiences of being a Hoops player after joining the club in the summer.

The 32-year-old was a surprise addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad, adding another option in the midfield.

After a slow start to life at Parkhead, the Australian midfielder has started to have more of an impact at the club, stepping into the side in place of Callum McGregor.

After building up his fitness and earning a regular starting role in Glasgow, the former Huddersfield man received a call-up to his national team side ahead of the 2022 World Cup, which gets underway later this week.

Mooy is expected to have a starting role for the Socceroos, with Postecoglou and first-team coach Harry Kewell tipping him for a good showing at the tournament.

His experiences working under the 57-year-old and with Celtic have helped the midfielder get back into a brilliant position ahead of Australia’s opening game against France next week.

Speaking to the press beroe Australia’s opener on Tuesday, Mooy spoke a bit about his time at Celtic so far and how ‘intense’ training sessions can be.

The Aussie veteran isn’t known as the most vocal member of his club or international squad. But, he is still looking to utilise his influence, with help from the work every day at training.

He said [Fox Sports]: “I don’t like to talk about myself. I’m not much of a big talker around the room. Everyone that knows me knows that. But I just try and do the right things off the pitch and on the pitch … just try and play well and then hopefully I can inspire people.”

“It’s a testing place to be every day.

“We go in with the boys and train a hundred miles an hour. That’s the way Ange likes it, and there are no days where it’s just chill. So it’s intense, and it’s a good place to be.”

Aaron Mooy and Celtic teammates geared up for World Cup appearances with thanks to Ange Postecoglou at Celtic.

For the majority of Celtic’s four players heading to the winter World Cup this month, they have a lot of thanks to say to Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou.

The likes of Mooy and Cameron Carter-Vickers, may not have been in the place they are with their national teams now if it wasn’t for the 57-year-old bringing them to the club.

Mooy had been without a club for several months after leaving the Chinese Super League. But having managed him in the past, the Celtic boss knew what he was going to get from the midfielder.

Both parties have benefited massively from that signing, with Mooy having a big part to play in Celtic’s recent league form, and now he is fully fit and ready to go for the World Cup.

We wish Aaron all the best of luck at the tournament over the next few weeks. It is bound to be a tough but rewarding experience, with all the hard work he has put in at Celtic.
