Celtic’s biggest Champions League test of the season is here.

Brendan Rodgers has made huge progress with Celtic in Europe’s elite competition and that’s proven by the two upcoming dates with Bayern Munich.

Celtic face the German giants in a two-legged play-off affair knowing that a win would see them progress to the last 16.

That would be quite an incredible achievement because, let’s be honest, the Bhoys are underdogs here and everyone needs to produce to their highest level if the unthinkable is to happen.

Rewind back to November and Celtic beat RB Leipzig at Parkhead in one of the club’s best performances in Europe for many a year.

The man who shone on that night was Nicolas Kuhn, as his brace after Leipzig took the lead, sparked the champions of Scotland to a performance and victory the fans will remember for a long time.

Kuhn’s performances in Europe have been pretty strong this season and he tops an interesting list.

You would have heard of fantasy football – where supporters can pick a select group of players, within a budget, to see who can generate the most points based on performances.

The Champions League’s official account was advertising the latest round of action and a certain Kuhn sits top of the list.

When it comes to the teams in the play-off rounds, the best pound-for-pound midfielder you can select is Kuhn, as he is averaging 8.3, better than anyone else, ahead of the likes of Bayern’s Michael Olise and Manchester City’s Phil Foden.

If you want to include every player in the competition, then Barcelona’s Raphinha, who is one of the best players in the world right now, topping the list, with Florian Wirtz second and Kuhn third.

If Kuhn can replicate the performance he produced against Leipzig against Bayern, then Celtic will have a serious chance of winning, especially with Daizen Maeda available to play.

The 25-year-old has three goal involvements this season and has shown serious progression after his early struggles at Parkhead.

Nonetheless, this is how Kuhn ranks amongst the best pound-for-pound midfielders in the Champions League.
