Celtic youngster Andrew Kyle is still in the dark over his contract after a successful loan at East Kilbride.

The left-back went on loan to K-Park in January, having been part of the Celtic B team for the first half of the season.

Last weekend, East Kilbride secured their second successive promotion, rising to Scottish League One as champions of League Two.

Kyle says it was the best moment of his career so far — he wants to continue his momentum at Celtic, but this remains uncertain.

Andrew Kyle: I’m yet to find out about Celtic contract

Asked about his contract, Kyle told Glasgow World: “I’m yet to find out, so that’s all I know so far.

“I’m just waiting to see what happens. But if not, hopefully I can go to another senior team and just take it from there.”

On where the promotion ranks in his experiences so far, he said: “Oh, this is right at the very top. I’ve not managed to achieve a lot so in my career so far. This has to be right at the top.

“I can’t thank Mick [Kennedy] and Si [Ferry] enough for bringing me in, they’ve both been amazing. Mick is a great man-manager and I can see him managing at a higher level in the future.”

“Yeah, it’s been really good. I just wanted a different challenge in January and moving to East Kilbride has been amazing for my development.

“When I joined, I think the club were eight points behind, so to be here fighting for a title has been amazing.

“It added a bit of pressure, but it’s been really good for me and I’ve learned a lot. I could’ve stayed at Celtic but I wanted to go out on loan and test myself.

“It’s been a lot different to playing for the B team, especially playing in front of big crowds.

“Hopefully next year I can get a chance in pre-season again to show what I can bring, or go to another first-team environment and that brings on another challenge.

“But I’ve had a great six months with East Kilbride and next season, let’s see where that takes me.

“Kieran [Tierney] is a big inspiration for me, and I’d love to follow in his footsteps and try to establish myself in the first team.”

Other talents in the Celtic B team

Celtic B captain Hayden Borland was handed a new contract in April. He is of no relation to Aidan, the 18-year-old midfielder who left Celtic for Aston Villa in 2023.

Rhys Dargie has been the top scorer of the B team this season with ten goals. He also agreed a contract extension late last year.

18-year-olds Finlay Hale and Samuel Isiguzo have been named on the bench in Europe, whilst 16-year-old Joseph Haney made the matchday squad against Auchinleck Talbot.

16-year-old Dara Jikieimi has made his debut for the B team, but is reportedly going to join Liverpool at the end of the season.
