Celtic and Australia football heroes alike have contributed to a fantastic compilation of unseen footage cataloguing Ange Postecoglou’s time as Australia manager.

The video contains multiple candid clips of Postecoglou’s Socceroos reign, featuring several emotional and highly passionate team talks the Aussie made during four years as the national team coach.

The feature has been released to mark Postecoglou’s formal homecoming to Australia with Celtic for the Sydney Super Cup, which kicked off today with Sydney FC defeating Postecoglou’s side 2-1 in an entertaining game at the Allianz Stadium.

10 Football published the feature on their YouTube channel, with several dressing room clips taken from Postecoglou’s time as national team manager and many quotes from players he managed in the role.

It also includes quotes from current Celtic star Aaron Mooy, former Celts Tom Rogic and Jackson Irvine, as well as other iconic Australia stars such as Everton legend Tim Cahill.

Mooy, who re-joined his former national team manager in Glasgow in the summer praised Postecoglou’s single-mindedness, and determination to succeed, in his short quote in the feature.

He said: “Mentally stubborn with his way of thought, which is a good thing, he believes in what he believes in and nothing changes.”

The man Mooy replaced in the Celtic side, Rogic, praised Postecoglou’s famed motivational abilities, which are well established from similar dressing room footage shown in Celtic’s recently-released We Never Stop season 2021/22 review DVD.

Rogic said: “His biggest strength I found was his motivational speaking, his speeches were right up there with the best that I’ve heard.”

Irvine, another former Celtic, tapped into Postecoglou’s famously distant approach with his players, making sure that standards are always maintained and nobody becomes too friendly.

He said: “He was the boss, he definitely was the boss, I think sometimes, once you’ve been in it for a certain amount of time you can start to become comfortable and that’s something Ange never let happen.”

There’ll be few surprised by the adulation that many of Postecoglou’s former players have for their old manager, given the job that the Aussie is continuing to do at Celtic.

As much of the praise in the footage is focussed on his intangible qualities, it’s testament to Postecoglou’s varied skillset as a coach that there’s little about his tactical approach, which has had a revolutionary affect on just about every club he’s managed, Celtic as much as any other.

Celtic conclude their short Sydney Super Cup campaign on Sunday against Frank Lampard’s Everton, the match kicking off at 3:45am UK time.
