The Celtic starting XI to face Midtjylland at Parkhead tonight has been announced, as per the UEFA website.

The team reads as follows:

Starting XI: Barkas, Ralston, Bitton, Welsh, Taylor, Soro, McGregor, Turnbull, Abada, Christie, Edouard

Subs: Bain, Hazard, Griffiths, Ajeti, Rogic, Bolingoli, Urhoghide, Shaw, Murray, Forrest, Henderson, Montgomery

Celtic fans have gotten used to seeing the youngsters in action during pre-season. However, tonight’s team has a more senior look to it.

As expected, the likes of Nir Bitton, Ryan Christie, and Odsonne Edouard have all returned to the team. However, Celtic fans will excitingly be given a look at new man Liel Abada too in his competitive debut for the club.

The main concern comes at the back. We all knew it was coming, but Anthony Ralston starts at right-back with an untested partnership of Stephen Welsh and Nir Bitton in the centre. Fingers crossed we keep the door shut despite our lack of depth.

The supporters will be hoping for a mature performance as we look to take a lead into next week’s second leg in Denmark.

Broadcast details

Tonight’s game is live on the Pass to Paradise service for season-ticket holders.

The game will also be shown live on Celtic TV for worldwide subscribers.

Premier Sports subscribers, meanwhile, can watch live on Premier Sports 1, with the broadcast beginning at 7:15pm Celtic Park Time.

Fan reaction to Celtic team vs Midtjylland

As expected, the Celtic fans are delighted to see Abada be given the call. That decision alone adds a layer of intrigue to tonight’s starting line-up.

There is undoubtedly pessimism with regards to the backline. That’s to be expected. But in the main there appears to be a simmering confidence within the support combined with an excitement.

As always, the fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the starting lineup:
