Timothy Weah revealed that he was leaving Celtic on Friday evening. The American took to Instagram to inform his followers that his time at the club was over. Nearly a day has passed and Celtic still haven’t commented. At all.

At the time of writing, the Hoops haven’t acknowledged Weah’s departure on any social media channel. There has been no official correspondence from anyone that the American’s days at the club are over.

Weah is still the only person to broadcast the news.

Does the silence show Weah was right?

It doesn’t take a brainiac to work out that something went amiss at the end of the PSG man’s loan spell. For the 19 year-old to be told that he wasn’t needed for the final three matches of the season shows there was some level of falling out.

The Herald reported that Weah refused to play in the Scottish Cup final due to international commitments. Celtic had reportedly sorted out a deal suiting both themselves and the United States Soccer Federation before the player decided to do his own thing.

Whatever the falling out, the Hoops aren’t doing themselves any good by not saying anything. The silence coming out of Celtic Park is deafening on this one. The club need to get their point across.

If it was the American who was out of order then Celtic should come out and explain that to fans. Otherwise the speculation will continue and it may not reflect well on Neil Lennon or the club.
