Celtic offered Neil Lennon the manager’s job over three days ago yet there’s still been no official confirmation from the club.
The board, and Peter Lawwell in particular, decided to kill off speculation by offering the Northern Irishman the permanent gig in the aftermath of Saturday’s Scottish Cup final victory over Hearts.

They announced the move on Twitter saying details “will be confirmed in the coming days”.
The club are still in “coming days” territory but if nothing is announced in the next 48 hours then questions will be asked.

A bizarre appointment
Taking away the actual decision to appoint Lennon, the timing and nature of the announcement was strange.
Celtic usually have everything in order when they make major announcements. The club are usually firm, clear and concrete about what they are going to do. This instance was everything but.

The club’s media team were clearly taken by surprise at the move too. They had no video montage or graphic created for the announcement.
Celtic have played into Lennon’s hands big time. The 47-year-old could demand pretty much what he wants with the club now held to ransom. They won’t be able to announce that Lennon has turned the club down at this stage.
It all just seems a bit messy, and avoidable. It will be interesting to see what the next few days bring.
