Bayo spent last season out on loan at Toulouse and his future is unclear. The French club are waiting on a response from him after declaring they want to take up a buy option on his temporary move from Celtic.
However, it appears he won’t be an integral part of Celtic’s pre-season preparations. Ivory Coast matches clash heavily with UEFA Champions League qualification, specifically the tie against FC Midtjylland.
The African side play Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Germany between 22nd and 28th July. Knockout matches then occur over the next 10 days.
Celtic had the right to refuse a player’s participation, so clearly they are happy with the situation. Odsonne Edouard won’t be appearing for France.
Also included in the squad is former Celtic midfielder Eboue Kouassi.
The tournament could be a great chance for Bayo to show Ange Postecoglou he can do. Postecoglou likely values the competition. Australia are often proud participants in the football competitions and are represented again this summer.
If not, it’s a good chance for the aerial striker to put himself in the shop window and secure himself a move elsewhere, if he doesn’t fancy a return to Toulouse or Celtic.
Good luck Vakoun!
