The Celtic Trust have called for season ticket holders to be given the option of shares in the club instead of a cash refund for missed matches throughout the 2020/21 campaign.
The Trust say that supporters, who have weighed in at least £510 for a season ticket, have only received a match streaming service worth around £90 this term.
It’s said that this is a solution that will keep money in the club and also provide fans with the ‘additional value’ they were promised last summer.
Trust Chair, David Low said on their website: “Due to Covid, it’s a very difficult time for the whole sport and as Celtic fans we’ve had a very disappointing season. We want to help retain cash within the club and encourage season ticket sales for next season. We want to start next season in as strong a position as possible and our proposal helps achieve that objective.”
The group believes that the proposal also creates a positive dynamic for the sale of season tickets in season 2021/22 and offers a younger generation of supporters an opportunity to own a stake in their club.

Other collectives are throwing their weight behind the proposals including ‘Celtic Shared’, the fan-led campaign group co-ordinated by The Green Briagde.
They said on Twitter: “Celtic fans were promised value for the money paid for season tickets, but this has not come. We are fully behind the Trust proposal to refund fans for matches missed in shares – to keep the money in the club to rebuild, and to give the fans a greater say in how Celtic is run.”
Celtic’s stance on the proposal is not yet clear.
On the face of things it feels like a neat solution for supporters both not wishing to harm the club, but looking for a bit extra for their money’s worth after record-breaking sales last year.
