Celtic supporters delighted as club shut down crazy guard of honour talk

As expected, Celtic will not provide Rangers with a guard of honour ahead of Sunday afternoon’s derby at Celtic Park.

Media outlets have ramped up the ‘debate’ all week, asking former Celtic men such as Brendan Rodgers, John Hughes and Gary Caldwell about the issue.

For supporters, it’s been pretty tiresome.

This is a heated football rivalry and while some things are bigger than that, such as calling out racism and bigotry, clapping them onto the pitch is not one.

Rangers are deserved Scottish Premiership winners. It hurts to say that, but it’s true.

That doesn’t mean we have to show deference to the Ibrox club and annoy thousands of supporters.

Our fans simply don’t want this to happen and so it shouldn’t be done.

Thankfully, John Kennedy has confirmed to reporters today that it will not be happening [Sky Sports].

With Rangers not giving us one in 2019, as you’d expect, and now us returning the favour, hopefully that puts an end to any future media crowing on the subject.

Guards of honour simply aren’t going to happen between Celtic and Rangers. If that bothers you, get over it!

These fans have taken to social media today to share their thoughts on it all…
