Read MoreCeltic supporters have their say as Bhoys board finally take Scottish FA action
Celtic supporters have welcomed the news this weekend that the club sent a letter of complaint to the Scottish FA, following head of Scottish referees Crawford Allan’s controversial appearance on BBC Sportsound last week.
Neither Robbie Neilson nor Celtic supporters were happy with Allan’s decision to join the show live for an interview with Richard Gordon.
Allan has been conspicuously absent all season after a litany of mistakes from referee officials but chose to comment on a marginal offside call and non-impactful Bobby Madden decision to stop play when Celtic star Jota went down with a hamstring injury.
Celtic aren’t happy with the SFA
Farcical, as well we know as Celtic supporters. And it seems this was something too far for the Celtic board too.
Journalist Stephen McGowan reports in today’s Scottish Daily Mail that Celtic sent a complaint to the SFA through the week. It’s said that Celtic both expressed their surprise at the content of Allan’s comments, as well as the timing of them.
Which, in my opinion, is completely fair enough. Either Allan has a policy of regularly appearing in the media to discuss refereeing decisions or maintains a stony silence. He can’t have it both ways.

The fact he has come out to speak about Celtic-specific incidents but nothing else is very curious indeed.
It has obviously caught the attention of fans too, as has this latest report from McGowan.
A cavalcade of Celtic supporters have taken to social media today to share their thoughts on it all…
It's appropriate that Celtic seek clarification. I'll accept the accusation of green tinted glasses but it feels like open season on Celtic players. Lots of reckless & dangerous tackles are not being dealt with at the time yet Celtic seek to pick up bookings for very little

His position is untenable, he has to resign

Well done Celtic finally

Since Crawford Allan has put his head above the parapet, let’s have him on the tv or radio every week and he can explain some of his top performers’ baffling decisions. I’m pretty sure that would improve the SPFL standards very quickly. Let’s say the top 3 contentious decisions🤷♂️

About time . One marginal decision and everyone goes tonto and we get comments from head of refs . He’s not commented on any other decisions this season for / against any other teams .

Crawford Allan should resign/be fired. Or he should be appear on the BBC once a week to give his opinion about every "controversial" refereeing decision in the SPFL. https://t.co/BstLT4z7KW
