Celtic supporters absolutely loved the post-match interview featuring Ryan Porteous on Premier Sports after Hibs knocked Rangers out of the Scottish League Cup this evening.
Celtic will play the Easter Road outfit at Hampden on December 19th in the final – a mouthwatering prospect. However, there is much joy and hilarity to be taken from today after a fantastic Rangers meltdown at the national stadium in front of new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
One of the funniest moments came after the match when Porteous referenced Steven Gerrard’s infamous comments on BT Sport about not wanting to leave Rangers – before walking out on them weeks later. Premier Sports shared the footage on social media of the Hibs player’s comment which you can see below or via this link.
Porteous has had his share of run-ins with Rangers and Gerrard over the last couple of years, so no doubt this was a particularly sweet moment for the defender.
The Hibs star will now be a foe for Celtic and our supporters next month as Ange Postecoglou looks to secure his first silverware since arriving in Glasgow.
They were impressive today and can’t be taken lightly. It will need a strong performance to get over the line and take one of our trophies back after last season’s disaster.
For now though, we can enjoy Porteous’ antics.
Supporters took to social media en masse to share their delight with the defender’s comments, with a selection of the comments below summing up the feeling…
