The Celtic supporters have been left absolutely mystified after Ange Postecoglou was asked about Hampden ticket allocations at his pre-Bayer Leverkusen press conference.

It was the first question at today’s presser, and it was something that clearly irked the Celtic manager. Postecoglou showed a more agitated side whilst still managing to keep that upbeat smile on his face. You could tell it frustrated him however, as he swiftly rejected the question and allowed the journalist to give another [Celtic TV].

It comes after Hibernian have consistently outlined frustrations at only being given 17,500 tickets for the final. It remains to be seen if there is any chang in the allocation provided, but it’s certainly something that’s splitting supporters.

Regardless, even though it’s a key issue, it’s a totally bizarre opener. Celtic are preparing to face Bayer Leverkusen in what could very well be a do or die night in the Europa League. Postecoglou has every right to think he’ll be flooded with questions about the game and the opposition.

Instead, he was having to bat away a query clearly only asked in order to get a headline out of him.

It’s incredible how well this man can hold a room. Even though he was clearly annoyed, he still managed to keep the atmosphere friendly. He tried to be as jovial as possible about the situation even though it’s clearly something that annoyed him. Within a couple of questions it was more than forgotten about.

It was expertly handled by the Celtic boss. This is exactly part of the reason as to why the supporters have such a strong affection for him. They can seriously relate to his approach when it comes to media questions.

Even so, his relationship with the media in Scotland has been tetchy to say the least. Consistently undermined, you have to say he’s done well to keep calm for this long. He even managed to keep his cool this afternoon, which was also impressive.

But it’s clear the supporters are getting fed up for him too. Especially when it comes to questions that are so blatantly put forward to try and catch Ange out.
