Celtic supporters react to Olivier Ntcham saga

It’s fair to say that the Olivier Ntcham speculation is now being turned into a saga.

The Frenchman has reportedly been interesting both Porto and Marseille respectively (Daily Record). Just last week, however, it was believed that Marseille had been priced out of a move for the Frenchman.

Now, however, it’s been reported that Ntcham could be an option again if West Ham make a big offer for Marseille’s Morgan Sanson (Daily Record). Ntcham has also started unfollowing some Celtic players on Instagram, which is an odd move to say the least.

And speaking on Twitter about the saga, Celtic fans have been differing in their opinions of their Frenchman.

Mixed element highlights Ntcham’s season

There are plenty of Celtic fans out there who would clearly be happy to see Ntcham go. And what it probably does is tell you just how much he failed to live up to the promise of his debut campaign in 2017/18.

Of course, in saying that, it’s important to remember that Ntcham did miss a couple of months of action last season due to a knee injury. The midfielder only came back into contention on March 31st against Rangers. Before that, he hadn’t played since the December match against the Ibrox side either.

So there is an element of misfortune to how Ntcham’s season went overall. It would be extremely surprising to see Celtic bow down to offers for him with a big pre-season ahead. There’s no denying that Ntcham can be one of the classiest players in Scottish football on his day. It would at least be ideal to see if Neil Lennon can get the class out of him with a full pre-season working with him.

If Marseille, Porto, or any other potential suitors come in and nab him, there’ll be a feeling of regret there. Ntcham could’ve been and, to an extent, still can be a real star here if he stays on. He has the technical ability, the strength, and the composure to be a big player in Scotland.

His attitude, however, is what’s putting many fans off him. Unfollowing fellow teammates on social media looks a tad immature. There have also been certain games this season where the Frenchman just hasn’t looked interested.

There just remains no end to this saga in sight. Will he stay or will he go is the main question fans will be asking, but it’s all still up in the air for now.
