The Green Brigade issue Celtic Park reminder

Celtic supporters are being asked to bring along foodbank donations to Paradise tomorrow for the Green Brigade annual collection before kick-off against Aberdeen.

The Green Brigade’s annual foodbank collection will see members collecting donations at multiple sites outside of Celtic Park. On what’ll already be an emotional day, it’s another reminder of who we are as a support and who Celtic are as a club.

Every year (Covid permitting) the Green Brigade advertise their efforts to collect donations for local foodbanks in Glasgow. With Christmas coming up, it’s a hugely important time for foodbanks, of course.

The Green Brigade reminded fans of the apeal on Twitter today:

It’s been a big week for the Green Brigade. Last week’s displays at Hampden gained massive applause, not just from within the stadium. At Bertie Auld’s funeral, held yesterday at St Mary’s, Calton, the supporters’ group were praised for their action.

Expect similar scenes tomorrow, with the club reminding supporters to get to the stadium early. Of course, with the foodbank collection happening too, there’s plenty of reason to be at Celtic Park well ahead of kick-off.

There’s also be the opportunity to welcome back Scott Brown, for his first game back at Paradise since leaving in the summer.

All in, then, a meaningful day indeed.

Green Brigade and Celtic teaming up for social good before Aberdeen game tomorrow

Obviously, the Green Brigade and the Celtic hierarchy don’t often see eye-to-eye. However, the displays for Auld were inarguably incredible. That, and this is a move that puts Celtic in a good light. Of course the higher-ups won’t object to this.

So then, it’s good to see the Celtic SLO spreading the message.

That message being, of course, where and when to leave donations for the foodbank. Volunteers will be at the 111 entrance, the Gallowgate entrance and on the Celtic Way from early on tomorrow.

UHT Milk, toiletries and a list of other necessary items are listed on the promotional material for the foodbank collection. Sadly, foodbanks are still very much a modern necessity, and with winter fuel prices to account for, families are feeling the pinch during the festive season.

Bring what you can. It’ll surely be an emotional day for the Celtic supporters regardless, in a game that is a must-win for the Bhoys against a familiar captain.

If some families are able to get fed, have access to toiletries and can have more hope this Christmas, then all the better.
