Celtic supporters should be thrilled by latest Ange Postecoglou report amid Japan interest

Reports on Tuesday suggested that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was set to be a target for the next Japanese international boss.

Having spent a period in Asia as manager of Yokohama F Marinos, the 57-year-old had clearly left an impression on those who lead the national football association.

Failure at the 2022 World Cup could see current boss Hajime Moriyasu leave his role, and Postecoglou was one of the options reportedly being looked at as a replacement.

It has even been suggested that JFA technical director Yasuharu Sorimachi had already reached out to Postecoglou to gauge his thoughts on the opportunity.

Having already managed the Australian national team, the Celtic boss has plenty of experience at that level, and after a brilliant 18 months at Parkhead, he will be wanted by several different roles.

However, according to a report from the Daily Record, Ange Postecoglou isn’t considering the role of Japan’s manager, and the reasoning behind that will be exactly what Celtic supporters are wanting to hear.

The report goes on to state that Postecoglou believes he is ‘building something special’ in the East End of Glasgow, and it would take an offer he could not refuse to tempt him away from Celtic Park.

In the past, Postecoglou has mentioned how he prefers working with his players on a regular basis rather than on different occasions with the national team. So, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see him turn down this opportunity.

However, it is absolutely fantastic to hear that the former Socceroos boss can see he is building something at Celtic, and it will be hard to tempt him away from this project.

Celtic support will be thrilled by latest Ange report as Hoops boss looks to continue building.

Since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at Parkhead last summer, it has been quite the year for supporters, who have watched the 57-year-old take us back to glory.

Not only did the Celtic boss lead us to Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports cup success, but also with his entertaining, attacking style of play.

After a dramatic rebuild to the playing squad across the last three windows, the Bhoys are now looking in top shape, having also competed in the UEFA Champions League.

However, Ange Postecoglou isn’t satisfied with that feat, and he clearly wants to take this club somewhere special.

He is certainly going the right way about it, and the Celtic supporters will be buzzing to hear this latest update as he continues to build his legacy at the club.

Here’s hoping he gets the opportunity to do that for a few more years, and there is no doubting a few more clubs will be lining up moves by that time!
