The news that Christopher Jullien will be out of action for up to nine months is a real blow for Celtic and fans have been showing support on social media.
His second season has been something of a bust given his back injury, Covid-19 diagnosis and now his knee problem – but that’s not the fault of the player himself.
It’s easy to forget he was a major part of our nine-in-a-row campaign and Europa League run last term.
Not only was he a defensive stalwart, but he also netted huge goals against Lazio and Rangers, giving supporters some of their best memories of the 2019/20 season.
Lennon told print journalists this weekend that he’s found his most recent injury hard to take and has returned to France to be more comfortable.
As quoted by The Scottish Daily Mail (20/02 print edition, page 114), he said: “He never really got the season going, he was out with a back injury as well. So it was very stop-start for him. This has been a horrendous blow for him and us as well.
“Then he had Covid-19 when he was laid up by that, but he had already sustained the injury by then.
“So it has been really difficult for Jullien. Rather than be here and a restrictive sort of lifestyle, he can do his work in the rehab centre and maybe spend some time with his family as well.”

Jullien has been noticeably morose on social media for the last couple of weeks, clearly upset by the news he’ll be out for the best part of a year.
Yesterday, he was all in the mood for staying positive though, taking to Twitter with the simple message: “No sorrow…”
Celtic fans have looked to rally round the defender in response, letting him know he’s a valued member of the squad and that they want to see him back in action as soon as possible.
