Celtic-supporting boyfriends are choosing the Hoops over girlfriends

Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day for love and affection, but not for many girls with Celtic-supporting boyfriends.

The Parkhead men host Valencia in a massive Europa League clash at Parkhead tonight. The contest will be the first time Celtic have faced the La Liga giants since their memorable encounter back in 2001.

Celtic Park is sold out for the fixture too, with many supporters excited for a big night of action. The Hoops will be hoping to take some form of lead to the Mestalla, and you feel they have to.

And boyfriends around the country are getting ready to answer the call of the Hoops over a romantic night with their partners. Here’s a look at some of the best Valentine’s Day reaction to the fixture:

The bond with Celtic is just too strong

On a personal note, my girlfriend will also be unfortunately left to her own devices tonight. When Celtic come calling, it’s difficult to say no. Not everyone will truly understand.

In all seriousness, however, plenty of boyfriends and girlfriends will have to postpone their Valentine’s Day plans. This is a colossal match and one that can seriously re-emphasise Celtic’s prestige in Europe once more.

That it falls on Valentine’s Day is unfortunate, but for Celtic fans, it’s a mammoth occasion.

Many supporters will remember back to one of Celtic Park’s most memorable nights this evening. Despite the fact Celtic defeated Valencia 1-0 at Parkhead back in December 2001, they bowed out of the UEFA Cup on penalties.

A similar result and performance this evening would be welcome. It’s a glamour tie in every definition of the word, and it’s clear to see why so many partners are being left alone tonight.

Tonight, unfortunately for the isolated partners, is all about the Celtic. After all, there’s always tomorrow night eh?
