Celtic take pleasing strong stance after yet more nonsense from Rangers

Celtic aren’t going to back down in the ongoing ticket furore surrounding derby matches, insisting that no Rangers fans will be allowed into Celtic Park for the upcoming derby in December.

As is widely known, Celtic have knocked back the chance to take tickets for the opening derby of the season next month due to safety and fan experience concerns at Ibrox.

Rangers, bizarrely, have demanded their own tickets for the subsequent derby and have contacted the SPFL to request an allocation based on a league rule.

However, The Daily Record now reports that Celtic will tell both Rangers and the SPFL there is no chance of their supporters getting into Paradise, believing that security assurances given by the Ibrox side over the summer were not met in time for the September fixture.

It’s said that nets surrounding the away enclosure at Ibrox had been mooted, but that these would not be ready in time for next month’s match.

Celtic want a return to the traditional multiple-thousand away allocations at both venues, which has been made clear multiple times over the last few years. Rangers continue to play games and seem to want as few fans in each ground as possible.

And now the Bhoys are willing to fight it out with league chiefs and put across their view, which is absolutely the right thing to do in the circumstances.

Celtic know they will have the backing of many supporters on this issue. If our fans cannot attend a derby at Ibrox safely then why should their fans get the chance to make it into Celtic Park? It’s utter nonsense.

Rangers have ruined the atmosphere and occasion of these derbies with their petty actions over the last four years and it’s time that fair, safe allocations are decided on.
