Celtic target Filip Benkovic has been training hard. The Croat, owned by Leicester City, has shared workout pictures and changed his Instagram bio.

It’s enough to suggest to Celtic supporters that the centre-back might be Glasgow-bound.

Benkovic changed his bio to the curious “Be patient. Be humble. Have faith.” on his Instagram page. Hoops fans are now wondering what the cryptic message means in terms of a Parkhead return.

Last night, news broke that Celtic were in talks for the Leicester City centre-back. With Christopher Jullien injured and Shane Duffy out of form, Lennon urgently needs cover.

Benkovic, who spent the 18-19 season on loan in Glasgow, will be tasked with providing much-needed solidity, should he agree to a deal.

The ex-Cardiff City and Dinamo Zagreb man (Transfermarkt) has endured a difficult time since his loan at Celtic. Injury woes and lack of momentum have halted the tall Croat in his career.

He’s nowhere near the Leicester City first-team, with Brendan Rodgers preferring Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana. Behind them, the likes of Caglar Söyüncü and Wes Morgan provide suitable cover.

Is Celtic target Benkovic teasing the Hoops faithful?

In his latest Instagram posts, potential Celtic signing Filip Benkovic has looked to be in fighting form. Weights and boxing gloves have featured on his most recent social media activity.

Celtic fans will be hoping that’s a sly wink to Scotland’s physically demanding game. Benkovic made 27 appearances for the Bhoys during his spell at Paradise, but suffered with injuries.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is clearly keen to move Benkovic on, stating (Glasgow Times):

“It’s certainly a possibility. [Celtic is] a huge club and he did very well there. We haven’t had any contact but he’s back now and we will see what happens.

“Celtic would be a great move for him. He’s at the age where he really needs to be playing and that didn’t quite materialise at Cardiff.”
