Celtic look like making a big statement over new 15-year-old signing Bruno Davidson, according to a report.
The Daily Record believe that the Hoops have beaten both Leicester City and West Ham to the signature of the winger who plays for renowned youth club Hutchinson Vale.
They say that schoolkid Davidson will sign a deal until 2023, however the most intriguing part of the report may be enclosed right at the bottom.
The Record reckon that Davidson will be added to our development squad at Lennoxtown, despite being just 15.
Davidson will have a clear path to the Celtic first-team
While that update may not be entirely surprising to many, it does just go to show how highly the club apparently rate the youngster. Our development squad is mainly made of under-20 players, like Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko-Flex, but not many 15-year-olds get in.
Reading between the lines, perhaps that is one of the deciding factors we were able to offer Davidson and his representatives. If he had moved down south, chances are he would’ve joined an under-17 setup and been a few more steps away from a first-team call.
But as it stands, Davidson will be just one step away from joining the first-team for training and matchday squads. Of course, at 15 he is probably a little away from the latter. However, we have shown with Dembele that age is no real barrier to getting opportunities.
If you’re good enough you’re old enough. Hopefully Davidson can show he is the former in the coming years.
