Celtic will face Rangers in the final of the Scottish League Cup after a weekend of dramatic semi-finals at Hampden.

As you’ll know, Ange Postecoglou’s Bhoys successfully came through yesterday’s test against Kilmarnock in awful weather conditions thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Today, it was Aberdeen and Rangers facing off in a keenly contested fixture at the national stadium.

The Dons sensationally took the lead through Bojan Miovski in the first half after Matty Kennedy took advantage of some calamitous defending from Michael Beale’s team.

However, the Ibrox side came back into the game and equalised through Ryan Jack after half-time. Neither side could find a winner before the match went to extra time.

With Aberdeen down to ten men due to Anthony Stewart’s sending off, the result seemed inevitable. Kemar Roofe went on to net the winner, avoiding penalties, to win 2-1.

When will Celtic play Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final?

Celtic will now defend the trophy in a huge derby on Sunday, February 26th. A kick-off time is yet to be determined but, as is the norm in these fixtures, you’d expect it to be in the early afternoon.

The match will be broadcast exclusively live on Viaplay Sports 1, just as these semi-finals were. Tickets will be split on a 50/50 basis with details on that front likely to follow quite quickly.

It will be Celtic’s first cup final against Rangers since the 2019/20 edition of the same competition when a Christopher Jullien goal from a set-piece sent supporters into dreamland.

Recreating that magic would be fantastic as the Bhoys make a push for three trophies before the end of the season.
