Celtic’s squad depth is getting stronger and stronger.
You can talk up the squad all you like, but at the end of the day, you are only as good as what you produce on the pitch.
Celtic outclassed Ross County at the weekend, with the manager making several changes, including bringing in the very popular, Luke McCowan – his third start in the Premiership.
Just like Liam Scales, Adam Idah, Paulo Bernardo and McCowan himself, they got themselves on the scoresheet in a dominant first-half showing that saw five goals.
Celtic took their foot off the gas in the second half, and you don’t blame them, given what is coming up in the Premiership, as well as the League Cup final and the Champions League.
Up next for the champions is a trip to Pittoride to take on second-placed Aberdeen.
The likes of Arne Engels and Reo Hatate were rested at the weekend, so will they come back into the fold or will Rodgers stick with those players who did well against County?
Brendan Rodgers ‘won’t answer’ question on if Luke McCowan starts for Celtic at Aberdeen
Yes, Celtic fans won’t be too worried about Aberdeen’s title challenge, but this is still an opportunity to pull further away and provide that real solid cushion.
The lead is four points right now – with a game in hand – make it double figures by the end of January and Rodgers can put more focus on the Champions League.
So, will he bring back his main midfielders against Aberdeen? Neil McCann told Sportscene that the boss simply ‘won’t answer’ the question about McCowan starting the next match, even though he has laid down a real marker.
“He has grabbed it,” responded McCann on McCowan taking his chance against Ross County. “Whether he starts in the next game (against Aberdeen) is a real question that Brendan Rodgers won’t answer.”

McCowan’s stats for Celtic this season
There is a lot of noise around Engels, so you presume, if McCowan does start, then it will be for the big-money summer signing.
Either way, McCowan has been doing enough to warrant a starting place, it’s just that the quality is so good ahead of him that he might be benched again.
WhoScored have rated his Premiership performances at 7.13 and you feel that will continue to be the case the more minutes he gets on the pitch.
