Kjetil Knutsen seems to be a popular choice for Celtic’s next manager.
The Bodø/Glimt coach has been in situ since 2018, and he has done a stellar job at the Norwegian club, including guiding them to the Champions League for the first time in their history this season.
Thankfully, Celtic can take their time to bring in a new coach, because Martin O’Neill has steadied the ship since he replaced the departed Brendan Rodgers in the dugout.
But what could be holding Celtic back in appointing Knutsen?

The complications with Celtic appointing Bodø/Glimt boss Kjetil Knutsen
67 Hail Hail revealed last week that Knutsen is keen on becoming Celtic’s next coach, with his current contract expiring in 2025.
But according to Alex Crook on talkSPORT, the 57-year-old is ‘reluctant’ to make the switch to the champions of Scotland, at this moment in time.
“The other name on their shortlist is that of Kjetil Knutsen, who has done so well at Bodø/Glimt,” said Crook.
“He is sort of the hipster’s choice if you like for football fans. That is complicated, because although his contract is up in December.
“I think he would be reluctant to move all the time, Bodø/Glimt are still in the Champions League, so at the minute, I think it’s giving Wilfried Nancy the edge.”
Celtic’s fixtures up until the end of 2025
If you asked the Celtic Park faithful, they would more than happily wait for Knutsen until the end of the year.
That would then mean O’Neill staying on beyond the League Cup final against St Mirren at Hampden. If that happens, then this is the fixture list until the end of the year:
- St Mirren v Celtic, Premiership, Saturday, November 22
- Feyenoord v Celtic, Europa League, Thursday, November 27
- Hibernian v Celtic, Premiership, Sunday, November 30
- Celtic v Dundee, Premiership, Wednesday, December 3
- Celtic v Hearts, Premiership, Sunday, December 7
- Celtic v AS Roma, Europa League, Thursday, December 11
- St Mirren v Celtic, League Cup final, Sunday, December 14
- Dundee United v Celtic, Premiership, December 17
- Celtic v Aberdeen, Premiership, December 21
- Livingston v Celtic, Premiership, December 27
- Motherwell v Celtic, Premiership, December 30
