Only a few days after being crowned champions of Scotland, Celtic have topped another table – but on this occasion fans won’t be as happy.

The SFA have revealed the fees paid to agents in the last year. The Hoops top the table with just over £1.7 million paid to agents.

Rangers and Hibernian round up the top three that have spent the most money on agents.

Fans won’t be best pleased

It is fair to say that Hoops fans won’t be best pleased with the amount of money that the club have given to player’s representatives.

That money could have been towards new signings, would be the argument from the support.

Board and fans will differ

However, the Celtic board will have another take on the matter. They will point out that the club need to pay agents’ money to ensure they sign some of their high profile clients.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect is that the Hoops have topped the agent’s fees table more than once. That is something that the club should look to change in the years to come.

In the meantime, fans will want the Hoops to keep making signings. For that to happen the board will have to keep paying agents in order to land the players.

It is a vicious circle, and it doesn’t look like changing any time soon.
