Celtic TV’s commentary team this evening could not resist a lighthearted pop at Philippe Clement as they watched the Hoops run riot at Hampden.
The Scottish Premiership leaders smashed their closest rivals, Aberdeen, 6-0 in a comprehensive and simple night of football in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final.
It was a result and performance which saw a number of players stand out as they put the Dons back in their place to reach yet another cup final at the national stadium next month.
Cameron Carter-Vickers gave his side the lead with a towering header before Kyogo lashed a strike in off the crossbar following good work by Daizen Maeda.

The latter then hit the third and fourth for the eventual winners as he completed his hat-trick after Nicolas Kuhn had also netted in the rout.
For Kuhn’s goal, though, VAR took centre stage as referee Kevin Clancy and the officials in the technology truck looked to pore over the build-up to establish a potential offside.
Arne Engels was the player in question who attempted to run in behind before the Belgian would eventually find itself at Kuhn’s feet.
The German got a tad lucky with a heavy touch which came back to him off Kyogo but there was nothing fortuitous about the finish as he curled in a peach off the crossbar to seal the deal.
Gerry McCulloch and Peter Grant trolled Philippe Clement on Celtic TV
As the players on the pitch awaited the lines being drawn, Celtic TV’s presenter Gerry McCulloch and club icon Peter Grant were bringing the play-by-play action to the viewers at home.
And when the goal was given by the whistler, Grant made a cutting jibe in reference to Rangers manager Clement’s recent moans over an offside goal his side scored in defeat to Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen in midweek.
Viewing footage of Engels, Grant quipped: “A definite toe nail,” to which McCulloch chuckled, adding: “Those toe nails are important.”
Clement had bemoaned a ‘toe nail’ VAR call against Rangers vs Aberdeen at Pittodrie
Clement had complained about a VAR call vs Dons and suggested Ross McCausland was a “toe nail” away from being onside at Pittodrie.
“It was hugely disappointing to lose but it was a game we could have had a draw or on a good day, when things fall your way, that we win. We scored a goal and one toe or toe nail was offside.
“Those moments are not on our side at this moment. We started well and then Aberdeen took over and we struggled really hard.”
