The Greg Taylor Celtic TV interview last night after we overcame St Mirren was great to see.
Taylor made his Hoops debut in the 2-0 success and put in an assured performance. He was up and down the left flank, and constantly looking to whip crosses into the penalty area.
It was, of course, as routine a contest as Taylor could’ve hoped for. St Mirren were never going to come out and look to have a go at Celtic. Therefore, it led to minimal insight into his defensive capabilities. But overall he’ll be pleased with his debut display.

And Celtic TV took the time to interview him before making an odd gaff. The reporter said that he was certain Taylor would be looking to play his part in the semi-final this weekend and the Europa League contest in Rome next week.
This led to a humorous response from Greg, who had to let the interviewer know that he was cup-tied, much to the reporter’s embarrassment. You can see the interview on Celtic’s official Youtube for yourself by clicking here.
Taylor wouldn’t be starting cup semi-final in any case
Taylor is free to play in Rome if selected. However, his Betfred Cup appearances earlier on this season rule him out of the semi-final against Hibs on Saturday.

But this will hardly be too big a blow for the left-back either. After all, who honestly would’ve expected him to start the game in any case? In all big games this season, Lennon has gone for Boli Bolingoli down the left.
That won’t change this weekend or in Rome. Those two games are huge in the context of our season. Until Taylor proves himself further, Lennon will continue to stick with Boli. And quite rightly so.
For the former Killie man, yesterday has to be viewed as a start if nothing more. It was a positive introduction to the Celtic supporters, with some coming away from the game pleased with what they saw from him.

With so many games coming up over the next two months, there’ll be more opportunities there for Taylor. With some of the home games we’ll have against the likes of Livingston and Hamilton, those scream like further opportunities for Taylor to get some game-time.
But for now, Boli remains the number one. It’s going to take a pretty seismic shift for that to change too.
