The Martin O’Neill effect seems to be in full swing after Celtic comprehensively beat Dundee United at the weekend.
Celtic’s win over United came after a bruising six weeks under Wilfried Nancy saw the confidence stripped from the Hoops first-team.
After Celtic sacked Nancy, O’Neill was brought in for the second time this season and the impact he has made at the club is instantaneous.
Out went the dreaded 3-4-3 system as O’Neill reverted back to what Celtic know with a 4-3-3 and clear instructions on the players before the game kicked-off.
And what an impact it had. So much so that when Arne Engels scored Celtic’s second goal, the club’s Unique Angle captured a heart-warming moment between the Belgian and Kieran Tierney.

Celtic’s Kieran Tierney & Arne Engels’ bond in big Dundee United win
Team confidence will be a major factor in Celtic mounting a serious title defence as Rangers and Hearts sit above the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership table.
And as Engels put Celtic on the way to an easy win against the Tannadice club, what happened between him and Tierney proves that O’Neill has the team gelling once again.
Have a watch of this:
It was a great moment between the pair who must have thought that this season was about to derail under the Frenchman’s reign.
But that’s not all the footage captured.
What’s up with Celtic hero Daizen Maeda
Daizen Maeda has not been himself ever since this summer transfer move fell through last summer.
The Japanese striker looks much more muted and downbeat, and if you take a look back at his goal, you will see the Celtic striker in a stinker of a mood.
No doubt Maeda will be unhappy with his whole performance as he wasn’t at his best but even when he’s not performing to the best of his ability, he’s still scoring, and that’s all that Celtic fans can ask for.
As for Maeda, he is with Celtic until at least the summer, so let’s hope he continues to hit the back of the net this season regardless of his mood.
