Celtic are unlikely to drop any points in the Scottish Premiership prior to our upcoming derby at home to Rangers, according to former Ibrox captain Barry Ferguson in The Daily Record.
The Hoops picked up another important win on Saturday against Livingston, securing a 4-0 result.
It’s a victory that ensures we stay top of the table on goal difference, with Ferguson’s team winning away to Hamilton this afternoon.
Both sides have shown impressive week-to-week form in the top-flight this season, each drawing just once and losing just once.
It’s a trend that the former Scotland international thinks will continue into a busy December schedule before we host Steven Gerrard’s side at Celtic Park.
As quoted by The Daily Record, he said: “I’m prepared to put my neck on the line right now and say there’s a high probability that neither of them will drop a single point between now and then [the New Year’s derby].
“Look, I might be wrong – there may be a slip up along the way – but the truth of the matter is they look way too strong for all of the rest and I honestly can’t see anything other than maximum points for them both because they also realise they are entering the heart of the battle for this season’s title.”
Six points clear?
If his prediction comes to pass, then Neil Lennon’s team will head into that derby in Paradise on the verge of going six points clear at the top of the table, potentially opening a big gap moving into 2020.
Celtic play one more league game than Rangers over the coming period thanks to a scheduling quirk that sees the Ibrox side in action on a Friday night.
If we truly win every one of those six matches, we are guaranteed to be at least three points clear of Gerrard’s team when they come calling.
Given that we have already tasted derby success this season, added to the fact we are at home, there will be an expectancy we pick up a positive result.

Although they’d have a game in hand, entering the winter break clear by a six-point margin would be a brilliant thing. If nothing else it’d be a strong psychological advantage.
You may remember how much was made of Rangers drawing level on points with us last December when they picked up a narrow Ibrox victory, despite Brendan Rodgers’ side having a game in hand.
There’s a lot of hard work to do before opening such a gap, but Ferguson clearly feels there’s no stopping Celtic any time soon.
