Celtic have been warned by some of their supporters to not take the money for Odsonne Edouard this summer.
Over the weekend, The Sun reported that Aston Villa were readying a £30million offer for the Frenchman, who is now their primary transfer target.
Edouard currently still has two years to run on his Celtic contract (Transfermarkt), and has started all four of the club’s competitive games this season.

However, with clubs around Europe now back in pre-season, transfer speculation is hotting up. If Celtic sold Edouard to Villa for the reported £30m, it would be a record selling fee for the Hoops.
But even so, the Celtic supporters are having none of it this summer. With 10-in-a-row on the line this season, here’s a look at some of the fan reaction to the Edouard/Villa speculation:

How much do you value 10-in-a-row Celtic?
It means the world to us of course. Winning a tenth straight Premiership title and having the eternal bragging rights over the whole of Scottish football. Magic.
But just how much does it truly mean to the Celtic board? The Edouard saga will be a good barometer of just that.
There’s often a natural way of looking at things when it comes to Celtic in the transfer window. If a club comes in for our top players and threatens to break our record selling fee, chances are we’ll do a deal. But this year it’s different.

Yes, clubs won’t be willing to pay full value next summer when the player only has one year left on his contract. However, even if Edouard doesn’t sign an extension, is getting another £10m extra really worth potentially sacrificing the 10 for?
If Edouard goes, it doesn’t mean the 10 won’t be won of course. But it would be placed in serious jeopardy. You simply can’t allow your star man to leave just months before you’ve completed a project that has taken nearly 10 years to build.
So even if offers of £30m come in. Even if Edouard decides he doesn’t want to extend his contract. Even if some big hitters from Europe come sniffing. Celtic must have one answer and one answer only – not this season.
In other news, Celtic reportedly turned down the chance to take a Napoli centre-back this summer.
