The upcoming Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Aberdeen promises to capture the imagination.
The Bhoys have won all seven of their league matches at the start of 2024/25, scoring 22 goals and conceding just once.
Only the Dons have managed to keep pace. They’ve also picked up all 21 points from 21 available.
Now, they travel to Celtic Park next Saturday, and someone’s 100% record has to go.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has called the match ‘really exciting’, while his Dons counterpart Jimmy Thelin is relishing the opportunity to test his side against the champions.
The stadium will be packed, too, with Celtic selling out the home end and a large Aberdeen contingent now confirmed to be travelling south for the 3pm kick-off.
Aberdeen sell out Celtic Park allocation with 1,150 on their way
The Dons announced this week that they have sold out their entire allocation of 1,150 tickets for the match, their largest support at Paradise for several years.
Aberdeen fans will have wanted Celtic to supply the Dons with more briefs, which they undoubtedly would have sold.
However, Celtic have already sold out their tickets to home fans, so there’s no mechanism to hand them a larger allocation, even if some season ticket holders don’t end up making the match.
Aberdeen’s form has increased the interest levels for the away support, and nobody really foresaw that at the start of the season when these sorts of plans are put in place.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic record vs Aberdeen
Despite the buoyant travelling support, the smart money is on Celtic bursting Aberdeen’s hype bubble, given that the Dons haven’t beaten the Bhoys in their last 25 attempts.
Brendan Rodgers has a stunning record against Aberdeen in two spells as a manager, too. In total, he has played them on 17 occasions and won 15 times, losing just once.
| Brendan Rodgers’ record vs Aberdeen by competition | Wins | Draws | Losses |
| Scottish Premiership | 11 | 1 | 1 |
| Scottish Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
| Scottish League Cup | 2 | 0 | 0 |
However, his only draw against Aberdeen came last season, a 1-1 February draw at Pittodrie.
Thelin is out to reverse recent Dons history and has met every challenge that has come his way. It’s now up to Celtic to show him that, regardless of his impact, some tests in Scottish football will prove too difficult.
