Celtic will play one of four teams in the first round of Champions League qualifying, it was confirmed on Saturday after preliminary matches.

As per their official website, UEFA have already placed the Scottish champions in Group 1 of the draw in Nyon, Switzerland, meaning the pool of unseeded teams we can face has been whittled down to a select few.

Swedish club Djurgardens are listed as potential opponents alongside Icelandic side KR Reykjavik, both of whom won their league titles in 2019.

Neil Lennon’s Bhoys will either play one of those clubs or the winners of a tie between Linfield and Drita, of Kosovo.

The latter two outfits emerged from the preliminary round semi-finals today and will face off on Tuesday to determine who takes their place in the first qualifying round.

The draw for that stage of competition takes place at 11am Celtic Park time tomorrow, on Sunday, with either a home or an away match on the cards for the Hoops.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the normal two-legged qualifying ties have been replaced by one-off games until the play-off round, with the venue determined during the draw.

Seeding does not impact who plays home or away. The club drawn first gets the advantage.

Ties take place on 18 or 19 August, with extra time and a penalty shoot-out if required.

Winners advance to the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round, the draw for which is this Monday.

All losing sides progress to the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.
