Celtic could secure eight-in-a-row this weekend if we beat Kilmarnock and results go our way.
And that’s exactly what would be best for Celtic. No unnecessary drama – just wrap up title number eight and move on to preparing for the Scottish Cup final against Hearts on May 25.
Of course, if Rangers beat Aberdeen, then we can still do it at Pittodrie with just a point next weekend, assuming we get the win against Kilmarnock this Saturday too.
But there’s no denying that if it goes to Pittodrie, some could have eyes on Ibrox. It’s not inconceivable to think a train of thought could occur from some fans that Ibrox would be the place to win the title.

After all, the pain of failing to do it seven years ago was a missed opportunity. The Hoops needed a win to seal the Premiership against Rangers in the first of the current seven-in-a-row run. Unfortunately, however, being two men and three goals down towards the end of the game meant it didn’t happen. Scott Brown and Thomas Rogne did grab a couple of consolations, but it meant nothing.
But that was then and this is now. And at this stage of the game, winning the league at Ibrox is too late in the day to risk it. If we fail to get the job done against Aberdeen, Ibrox doesn’t sit well with me personally.
Four points in next two games essential
I fully believe we can go there and get the result. We’ve already beaten Rangers twice this season after all. But at that stage, we’re seriously putting the title at risk if we failed to get the job done there. Why even bother with the risk?
The vast majority of Celtic supporters will want it sewn up this weekend if possible. Many will also likely want it done at Pittodrie so that it can be won during an actual Celtic game. But pushing it back to Ibrox – the second last game of the season – is too much of a wait. At that stage, it becomes an actual title race.

Celtic need to wrap up four points against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen respectively. End it now and avoid any ridiculousness in the final two weeks of the season. The players could certainly do with the mental break too.
You can guarantee that’s what Neil Lennon and the Celtic team will want too. The best way we can rub salt into our rivals’ wounds is by going there as champions and increasing our margin to a double-digit one once again. It would be a sign that their progress has, in the main, been very limited.
Give me that over title-deciding nerves at Ibrox any day of the week.
