Celtic managed to secure their fourth consecutive victory over Rangers Women under Fran Alonso yesterday, and now Ibrox supporters are demanding change.
Alonso secured a superb debut campaign in charge when he led Celtic to the UWCL and a fine second-place finish in the SWPL. This year, however, the Hoops are looking to go one step further.

Only 2 points behind Rangers after 7 games, things are getting interesting in what looks like a 3-horse race this season. However, as Alonso looks to continue to build a potential title-winning side, he’s certainly having no issues when it comes to the derby games with Rangers.
He’s now been in charge of 4 of them and won them all. Yesterday’s 1-0 win at the Rangers Training Centre secured SWPL Cup success thanks to Charlie Wellings’ second-half strike.
Rangers manager Malky Thomson has consistently failed to get the better of Alonso over the last 2 campaigns. So much so that it appears to be tipping their supporters over the edge.
Celtic must take major confidence from Rangers cup win
This was huge from a Celtic perspective. It was the perfect way to bounce back from a disappointing 2-2 draw with Spartans last weekend. They’ll have their sights set on bagging their first trophy under Alonso now as they compete with Spartans, Hibernian, and Glasgow City for the trophy.
However, there’s an even bigger fixture on the cards next weekend. Celtic will face off against Rangers once again, this time on league business, at the Penny Cars Stadium.
A 5th consecutive derby victory in that one will be enough to leapfrog our Glasgow rivals. Depending on results elsewhere it could also be enough to take top spot in the SWPL too. A massive opportunity awaits, and it’s clear there’s a spring in this Celtic team’s step.
They have Rangers in turmoil, with another massive trip to Glasgow City coming 3 weeks afterward before the end of. November. These are fixtures that could determine the outcome of the entire campaign.
But before we get stuck into that, let’s take a look at the Rangers fan reaction to yesterday’s cup encounter. It’s fair to say many have been left demanding change in the dugout:
