Celtic might be coming up against one old Bhoy against Aberdeen on Sunday in Jonny Hayes, but Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has confirmed that another former Celt, Dylan McGeouch will miss out on the Scottish Cup semi-final, the Press and Journal reports.
McGeough was forced off during the recent 3-3 draw between the teams with a groin injury, and McInnes has disclosed that he will be out of action for two months.
“The one who will miss out”
“Dylan is the one who will miss out. He got a scan that showed a tear on his groin and that will keep him out for up to eight weeks. I’m disappointed that he now faces a period of time out” McInnes said, as quoted by the Press and Journal.
That is a pity for the player. He would have been looking forward to coming up against a Celtic team he won two titles for.
However, it can only be considered a bonus for the Celtic. Who wins the central midfield battle will be one of the key factors of the game.
Now that Aberdeen are going to be without of their most important players in that position, Celtic can look to take advantage.
Intriguing how midfield will line-up at Hampden
Celtic struggled at times in midfield in the recent draw between the teams. It will be interesting to see how the Hoops line-up in the middle of the park for the game. That could depend on what happens on Thursday against Lille though.
Scott Brown didn’t start the recent draw between Celtic and Aberdeen. You have to imagine that Neil Lennon might not make the same decision at Hampden Park.
Any advantage Celtic can get in the middle of the park which will help the side win the game can only be a positive. If that means some Aberdeen players are missing the game so be it. That isn’t Celtic’s problem. All the Hoops can do is beat the teams in front of them.
