Celtic have pulled the plug on a move for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull, according to reports. The Daily Record say that the Hoops have pulled out of the transfer and will now look elsewhere.

The Scottish Sun had earlier reported that the 19-year-old was set to sign for the club but that report now seems to have been false. Turnbull won’t be joining Celtic this summer and the club have decided to move on.
It brings to an end a dramatic transfer saga that spanned three weeks and had numerous twists and turns.

What happened?
It’s difficult to guess exactly what has happened for the club to pull out of the deal. What is known is that they were very unhappy with Turnbull and his agent following transfer discussions at the tail end of last week.
The Scottish Sun reported that the teenager’s representatives were looking for “close to £20,000 a week”. Celtic issued a stinging response on social media, saying their offer was “magnificent”.

It is possible that they had simply set a cut-off date for the deal. If no compromise was made by the youngster’s team by a certain stage then the deal would be off the table. That point may just have been reached now and Celtic have had enough.
One thing’s for sure – David Turnbull won’t be signing for Celtic. A long and arduous transfer saga has come to an end. A sorry end.
