Celtic captain Scott Brown recently had some interesting comments to say when it comes to the advice he would give the young players at the club.

Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel, he had three pieces of advice that the Hoops academy players should take note of.

“Work hard, listen to your coaches and do as much as you possibly can when you’re not in training, to make sure that you’re the perfect pro” Brown said.

That really is some good advice from the Hoops captain, and he is a player that should know, having been a professional since 2002.

That is 17 years that Brown has been playing first-team football, and he is still a regular for Celtic at the age of 34. For any of Celtic’s academy players that want to reach the same level that Brown has, they must work with the same dedication that the Hoops captain has throughout his career.

His comments about doing as much as you can when not in training are fascinating. They show that Brown has worked as hard as possible to maintain his levels of fitness when not working at Celtic Park.

The part about listening to your coaches is also very wise, particularly for a young player. Coaches can do a lot for young players, especially when they are at the start of their careers.

Could be a coach after he retires

Brown’s comments sound like a those of a man who could well be a coach when he hangs up his boots sometime in the near future.

He may well be a youth coach for Celtic, should the powers that be at the club see his comments about the academy players.

Hopefully Brown leads Celtic to nine, then 10 in a row first. After that though, don’t be surprised to see him named as a member of Celtic’s coaching staff.
