Albian Ajeti is making the most of not being selected for Switzerland during the recent international break, the Celtic View reports.

The striker has been using the time he would have spent with Switzerland getting fitter for Celtic. That is good news for both the player and the club.

“This period is very important”

“For me, this period is very important because it allows me to build my fitness back up. It was the best decision for me to stay here rather than go away with the national team” Ajeti said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 56, Issue 17, Page. 11).

“I lost a couple of weeks when I was injured and I thought this was the right moment to try and get my fitness back to the level it was before the injury” he concluded.

Ajeti’s commitment to Celtic will be welcomed by Neil Lennon. It shows that the player isn’t afraid to work hard to better his game, and get back into the first-team on a regular basis.

That will surely happen if the player’s fitness is 100%. Ajeti’s attitude towards his international snub will also impress Switzerland. The player could easily have complained about not getting selected after his decent start to the season with the Hoops, but he has not done this. That is the correct attitude to take.

However, we are mainly focusing on Celtic. Ajeti had a good start to his Hoops season. However, he has been in and out of the side after suffering an injury against Hibernian in September. Indeed, he has not scored for the Hoops since suffering the injury against Hibs.

Manager still has faith in the player

However, he has started Celtic’s last two league games which shows that Neil Lennon still has faith in the player. His performances will only improve once his fitness improves.

That is why it is a good sign that Ajeti used the international break to get back to full fitness.

Look for the player to get back on the goal trail once he is fully fit.

In other news, Conor Hazard has had an excellent international career with Northern Ireland.
