Armstrong Okoflex has been one of Celtic’s star performers for the club’s academy and reserve sides since last season.
Despite being only 17, he has appeared in the first-team squad. He was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win over Hearts at the end of last season.
Now his good form has been rewarded with a first call-up to the Ireland under-19 squad for two friendlies against Denmark.
Okoflex is primarily a winger, and his progress has been slightly overshadowed by fellow starlet Karamoko Dembele.
Recently impressed in reserve cup victory

However, it will do the player a power of good to feature in an international squad. The player recently impressed in Celtic’s recent 4-2 reserve cup win over Morton.
He set up Jonathan Afolabi’s goal, and then found the back of the net from the penalty spot. It is a good sign for the Hoops when a player still at the start of his career, is having so much influence in the side.
May be a while yet before first-team breakthrough

Fans will no doubt want to know when the player will make his real breakthrough to the first-team. It might take a while yet, especially in this season as the Hoops are going for nine in a row.
However, should his performances for the Hoops reserves continue to impress then he may well find his way into the Hoops first-team squad at least before the end of the season. At the moment though, he will be concentrating on establishing himself in the reserve team.
