Celtic starlet Barry Coffey has disclosed that he has set himself a goal for the future.
The Hoops midfielder, who is just 18, recently signed a two-year contract with the club. Now he has disclosed that he plans to sign another contract in 2022, if all goes well.
“It was a proud day for me and my family to finally put pen to paper here again at Celtic” he said, as quoted by the Celtic View (Volume 55, Issue 26, page 37).
“All going to plan”
“Ideally, all going to plan, I’ll be signing a new deal again in another two year’s time.”
It is good to see that the player has a plan for the future. That shows maturity for such a youngster.
As yet Coffey has not made his breakthrough to the Hoops first-team. However, he will be hoping that changes in the near future,
It will be interesting to see if the Hoops decide to loan the player out next season, with a view to getting first-team football, or keep him in the Academy side.
Maybe a loan move would be beneficial, to get Coffey game time ahead of any potential breakthrough to the team.
Good to see that player has confidence in abilities
Still, it is good to see that the player has confidence in his abilities, and his plan for the future is undeniably a good one.
Celtic obviously have faith in the player’s ability, which is why the club rewarded him with a new contract only a few weeks ago.
Only time will tell how well his Celtic career will go, but Coffey looks to be aiming high, and that is good to see. Hopefully he gets his first-team chance at the Hoops sooner rather than later.
